We had a great stay at Kate's house. The kitchen was really well equipped. Log burner was brilliant. Beautiful location and really close to Exmouth. Would definitely recommend to friends.

This cosy Devonshire cottage offered all my family could need for our weekend break. It was incredibly clean and the thoughtful touches made by Kate (the pint of milk, a chocolate cake and even dishwasher tablets!) helped make our stay even more enjoyable. The beds are comfy and the log burning fire is a real treat on these winter nights. The cottage had underfloor heating so I didn’t have to worry about the children getting cold when away from the heat of the fire. We took full advantage of the footpath, running just a few metres away from the cottage, which took you along the river. The dogs enjoyed it too and were very relaxed in their new surroundings. Exeter was only a short drive away so we popped in for a spot of shopping and then, on the Sunday, we took a trip to Sidmouth. Having never been to the Jurassic Coast, I was in awe of the beauty of the area and have sworn to come again for a longer stay, in order to explore more of this beautiful part of England.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage! We were 4 friends down in Devon for a friend's wedding - and the cottage was the perfect base. Communication and check in was all very easy. Kate kindly left a welcome gift and made sure there was milk, tea and coffee etc. The place is comfortable and very well equipped - we cooked group dinners and breakfasts. It's very peaceful - with amazing views and the River Exe trail right on the doorstep. We would definitely like to stay again next time we visit!

Nice, clean, quiet and comfortable cottage in a great location, right on the estuary trail and within walking distance of Exmouth town. We were also able to walk to the station and get a train in to Exeter which was worth a trip. Kate was a very welcoming and accommodating host.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area. The cottage had everything we wanted, close to Exmouth sea front and shops, right on the trail and the enclosed dog field was an added bonus for us with our dogs, amazing views from the field.

We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at Lower Halsdon Farm. The cottage was absolutely perfect for what we wanted and being right on the exe estuary trail was great! We loved the location as we could walk into the town, to the beach,or along the trail and barely ever needed the car. Kate was a fantastic host and the cottage had everything we could have wanted and more. Thank you so much for such a lovely holiday, we really hope to return in the future!

The accommodation was very clean, well presented and cosy. The tea facilities in the room are a big plus. Kate was a very hospitable host. Fresh breakfast was a lovely feature. The farm itself has wonderful grounds and views. And closeness to town was perfect too.

This is a charming place to stay- off the beaten track but actually near Exmouth houses. It's a little tricky to get to but if you use a Sat Nav or cell map you will find it. The entrance road is the beginning of a National Trust trail or path and it looks like only bikes and walkers can go down but you are allowed to drive as the entrance to Kate's place is a few yards and to the right. The town centre is minutes away and an easy walk and the promenade is a typical British Seaside experience. The River Ex is viewable from your private garden area also. The flat is well stocked and I thought there was no hairdryer but apparently it was in the main bedroom wardrobe- as a Canadian I am used to hairdryers being in the bathroom!!! The living room is large and comfortable and the bedrooms fine - Queen bed in one and bunks and a single bed in the other. The latter has no closet or wardrobe. Kate is very welcoming and invited us to pick the wonderful ripe fruit from her trees. This is worth visiting and I would love to return.

What a gem we found in this well equipped cosy cottage. Great location for walking and cycling and only a short walk into Exmouth. Log fire was fantastic and the board games appreciated..a real home from home.

Beautiful cottage up a hidden lane just outside Exmouth. We particularly enjoyed the private enclosed garden safe for our dog to run securely. But most of all the dog field over an acre of space with spectacular views to watch the sun go down over the Ex estuary

Our short stay in Lower Halsdon Farm was just what our small family party needed with the bonus that we could meet up with family nearby and together enjoy a barbecue (provided by Kate) in the garden and board games indoors in the evening. All mod cons and plenty of space, a true home from home!! Perfectly quiet spot but just a short cycle ride, walk or drive to Exmouth. The town has so much to offer and we enjoyed our lunch on the river at the River Exe Cafe as well as a mackerel fishing trip (caught our BBQ supper!) and SUPing. Kate and Andrew were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. We liked it so much we've booked another short break in September and anticipate doing so again and again!!

We arrived to a warm welcome from Kate - she had kindly left some tea, coffee, cake and treats for the dogs in the kitchen too! The place is perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle but it is within walking distance from the beach, pubs and restaurants. It was a perfect, relaxing break!

Kate is a wonderful host who was really flexible when our arrival time was delayed and thought of lots of lovely extras which really made our stay special - she set up the bbq for us to use in the garden area, and the chocolate cake and fresh milk, tea etc on arrival were very appreciated! The farmhouse itself is beautiful, with everything you could need in the kitchen, and in a brilliant location right on the estuary path. It's only a short walk into Exmouth, through a park. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend Kate's farmhouse to any friends or family visiting Devon! Thank you Kate for such a lovely weekend stay!

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at Lower Halsdon Cottage. On arrival, instantly felt relaxed by friendly welcome, beautiful location, and very comfortable accommodation with all mod cons. Our three teenagers and dog loved it as much as we did. Wonderful scenic walks, pretty villages and to return to the sanctuary of the farm after days out made for a perfect few days. All credit to our hosts who ensured our stay was made very comfortable by all the extra touches. Try a cream tea while you are there - delicious!

My family (kids aged 13, 8 and 18months, husband and our boxer dog) had a lovely stay at Lower Halsden Farm. The place itself is a hidden gem and so well maintained. The little touches that Kate and Andrew provide (Cake, tea, milk, soft drink and doggy treats) made us feel welcomed from the minute we arrived. The place is fab for those that want to get away from it all whilst still needing access to local shops/activities/transport. With a brand new M&S foodhall 10mins walk away we were able to fill the fridge and easily carry on with our enjoyment of all that Exmouth and the surrounding areas have to offer. The beds were beautifully soft and our youngest was fine in the single bed as we brought our own bed guard (tip for others with little ones!) Families or couples this is a prefect place for either, book away!!

Delightful and well equipped apartment style space in a lovely farmhouse next to the estuary and in substantial NT grounds. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen well equipped. The beach at Exmouth is a 20 min stroll or a short drive . Really warm welcome from Kate who is very helpful. Recommend.

We stayed at Kate's for a couple of nights and really made the most of being surrounded by a National Trust walk which was being officially inaugurated there. The cottage is spotless with both Kate and her husband being very friendly hosts. The scenery is truly peaceful. Highly recommended!

Our stay at Lower Halsdon Farm was a wonderful experience. Kate's cottage is an amazing place for a quiet weekend away with wonderful views of the estuary and easy access to the Exe trail. It is well equipped and has everything one could ask for. We enjoyed making use of the excellent board game collection. The welcome card and cake was a really nice touch. I definitely look forward to visiting Kate's place again.

The self contained cottage was all we hoped for. Well equiped, the kitchen especially had everything we could want. During the winter months having a log burning stove was very nice. Excellent location, welcoming hosts all made for a great stay. We certainly hope to visit again.

Cosy farmhouse accommodation in a fantastic rural setting. Wonderful estuary views and only a few minutes drive from shops and other amenities if you need them and, of course, that fantastic sandy beach at Exmouth. We even has unseasonably warn February weather. Thanks for having us Kate and we hope to be back at some time in the future.

What a special place! Right by the Exe estuary, so you can walk out and hear the oystercatchers and look straight across the water. Very peaceful, but five minutes drive from Exmouth's lovely beach. The cottage is very well equipped with a well designed kitchen and bathroom. Comfy beds, plenty of parking, a decent sized sitting room with a great wood burning stove. The owners, Kate and Andrew, are very friendly without invading your privacy and we were greeted by a card and cake. A relaxing retreat.

This is such a fabulous find. It's warm light and very spacious. It's an easy walk into town and the beach is amazing . The cottage is right next to the trail way but is used by cyclists as well which is a shame. The views are lovely and the cottage is very well stocked with all the kitchen items you need to make it feel like home . Kate provided fluffy towels and bedlinen and the bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. Couldn't fault it in any way. Kate responded very quickly to any questions and was very helpful . Really lovely host

An excellent trip that has left the whole family feeling refreshed for the new year. Excellent place and excellent hosts. Highly recommend. The trail up the estuary was particularly nice to walk. Also notable was how well equipped the cottage is. Couldn't have hoped for more. Thanks Kate and Andrew.

December 2016

We had an unbelievably nice three nights staying in Kate's cottage! Would love to return. Our party was two adults, a six-month-old baby, and an excitable dog. We were all made incredibly comfy as soon as we got in the door. It's the sort of home where I would wish to get snowed in — a fire in the stove, puzzles and books on the shelves, lots of tea. As much as we enjoyed all our long walks in the beautiful area (so gorgeous in December, what must it be like in June?!) we actually wished we'd spent more time in the house just to enjoy all the sweet activities together! It'd be the perfect place to have an "unplugged" getaway. One note, for anyone in a similar family group: the listing mentions a washer, which it turns out is not in the apartment, but rather Kate offered to personally do the bit of washing we needed. As I'd predicted, we did have one nighttime nappy leak requiring a wash in the morning, and she was most gracious despite my feeling a *bit* silly not doing it myself! (The things you plan for on holiday as a mum!) Another thank you due to Andrew for his excellent "how to build a fire" lesson. :)

Kate made us feel very welcome. She was there to greet us after directing us in when we couldn't find the cottage. Lovely cottage, Kate had lit a fire for us and there were fresh flowers and a welcome card on the table. Very clean, warm and comfortable and a very pretty place.

The best word to describe this accommodation is 'perfection'. Kate ensured we had absolutely every thing we needed and supplied many comforts for our stay to the finest detail, even fresh flowers! The property was spotless and quiet with ample parking, close to town and local cycling tracks. A perfect get away for a couple or family. Highly recommended!
